Geçmişte başlayıp hala devam eden eylemler için:

“Present Perfect Tense” sık sık “for” ve “since” ile kullanılır. “For” bir süreci, “since” de zamanda belli bir noktayı gösterir.
v Mary has been in the university for three months.[A7]
v Mr. Roberts has been in New York since last October.[A8]
Henüz (yet) / zaten, çoktan (already) /az önce (just) bitmiş eylemler için:
v He has already had his breakfast.[A9]
v They have just finished doing homework.[A10]
v I haven’t eaten anything yet[A11]
Geçmişte belirsiz bir zamanda yapılmış eylemler için:
v I have been to the USA before[A12] .
v He has played in a lot of different teams.[A13]

Today, this year, this week, this month… gibi yapılarla kullanılır.

v I haven’t had breakfast this morning[A20] . (Hala sabah ise Perfect zaman kullanılır.)
